The 2011 Michigan Renaissance Festival

The 2011 Michigan Renaissance Festival in Holly Township was off to a great start Saturday morning, beginning promptly at 10 AM.  With opening festivities overseen by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth Glorianna, and her court, the village of Hollygrove comes alive with adventures reminiscent of the 16th century.

This weekend’s events include the Pet Festival and Dog Show, “Stuff-A-Bus”, a Lighthouse Outreach Initiative where this weekend’s patrons are asked to bring school supplies as donations for needy children in the Pontiac area, and a can food drive for the first 3 weekends. Bring 4 cans of food; buy one adult ticket you get one free, and the Buccaneer Beer Fest.

For the Renaissance shopper, there are nearly 200 artisans ready to share their ‘gallery-quality’ and juried artwork in the Merchant Marketplace. Festival goers can find everything from period apparel and jewelry, to body art and skilled crafts. You’ll find music and dancing, 16 themed stages, full-contact armored jousting, and entertaining services such as psychic readings, tarot, and palmistry and tea readings.

The children will find plenty to do at the Children’s Realm, and everyone can find plentiful food and drink while they enjoy the merriment.
The Michigan Renaissance Festival continues every weekend, including Labor Day through October 2nd. Let’s take a look!
